Senior Software Engineer - Kubernetes Platform

We are currently looking for engineers who want to join us in building a sovereign European cloud platform from the ground up — a real alternative to global hyperscalers.

We are creating a complete Kubernetes- and open-source-based PaaS stack, covering everything from serverless and managed databases to MLOps, monitoring and observability.

By joining us, you will become part of a team that is designing the foundations of the platform, rather than simply extending an existing product. We work with a full ownership mindset, where architectural decisions made today will shape the platform for years to come. This is an opportunity for people who want to have a genuine influence on the future of European cloud infrastructure.

The role

In this role, you will develop and own the MLOps and Observability offering for our cloud platform.

You will be responsible end-to-end for Kubeflow, Airflow, Jupyter Notebooks and the monitoring platform — from the Kubernetes layer through APIs all the way to documentation and operational reliability.

We follow a you build it, you own it approach. You will help define how customers train machine learning models, build data pipelines and monitor their applications.

This is a hands-on engineering role with a direct impact on the architecture and direction of the entire ML platform.

What you’ll be doing

  • Own MLOps and Observability end-to-end: Take responsibility for Kubeflow, Airflow, Jupyter Notebooks and Observability as a Service in a true you build it, you own it model — from architecture and implementation to APIs, documentation and production reliability.
  • Develop the monitoring platform: Build customer-facing observability services on top of the infrastructure foundations provided by our Platform DevOps / SRE Engineers.
  • Deliver features end-to-end: Take capabilities from operator or service integration through API endpoints and CLI commands to Terraform resources and documentation.
  • Integrate with shared platform services: Connect your services with IAM, billing and quota management systems developed by the Common Services team.
  • Shape engineering standards: Work closely with other Product Engineers to define the technical direction of the platform and establish engineering best practices.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong Kubernetes experience: You have independently built, operated or maintained complex systems running on Kubernetes.
  • Distributed systems design: You have practical experience designing scalable, reliable and highly available services.
  • Strong Go skills and good Python knowledge: You are comfortable building operators, controllers, APIs and CLI tools.
  • API and integration experience: You know how to design API wrappers and integrate services using REST and/or gRPC frameworks.
  • AI-assisted development: Tools such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot are a natural part of your daily development workflow.

Nice to have

  • Experience with ML platforms: Kubeflow, JupyterHub and GPU scheduling on Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Airflow or other workflow orchestration platforms.
  • Observability technologies: Prometheus/Thanos, Grafana, Loki and OpenTelemetry.
  • Multi-tenant monitoring: Experience exposing metrics and logs securely on a per-customer basis.
  • Terraform providers: Experience developing custom Terraform resources or providers.
  • Cloud provider experience: Previous work on cloud services or within a cloud platform environment.
  • Open-source contributions: Particularly within the CNCF ecosystem.

Why join us?

  • Build a cloud platform from the ground up: Help create a modern cloud ecosystem supporting the European space industry, climate research and scientific projects with real-world impact.
  • A highly autonomous team: Join a newly formed group operating with a startup mindset, backed by the stability, resources and scale of an established organisation.
  • CNCF technologies in production: Work hands-on with Kubernetes, Knative, Cilium, Argo CD, Kubeflow and other open-source technologies, with opportunities to contribute upstream.
  • Real influence: Have a meaningful voice in architectural and product decisions. Your ideas will directly shape how the platform evolves.
  • AI-native engineering workflow: We use tools such as Claude Code as an integral part of everyday software development — not as an experiment or side project.
  • Autonomy with stability: Enjoy significant flexibility in how you organise your work, clear collaboration principles, stable employment options and competitive compensation.
  • A comprehensive benefits package, including private healthcare, MultiSport and life insurance.
  • Access to language classes.
