We are currently looking for people who want to help us build a sovereign European cloud platform from the ground up - creating a real alternative to global hyperscalers. We are developing a complete PaaS stack based on Kubernetes and open‑source technologies. From serverless and managed databases to MLOps, monitoring and observability. By joining us, you become part of a team that designs the foundations of the platform rather than maintaining a finished product. We work in a full‑ownership model, where every architectural decision stays with the product for years. This is a place for people who want to genuinely influence the shape of the European cloud.
Role
In this role, you will develop key cloud services of the platform: DBaaS, Docker Registry, and secret‑management systems (Vault / Key Manager). You will work in a full‑ownership model - from Kubernetes integration, through API design, to documentation and production reliability. You will have a real impact on how customers work with data and security in a cloud environment.
Your responsibilities
- Full ownership of platform services: development and maintenance of DBaaS (Severalnines CCX), Registry (Harbor), and Vault / Key Manager in a “you build it, you own it” model - from implementation, through APIs and documentation, to operational stability.
- Integration with shared services: connecting platform services with IAM, billing and quota systems developed by the Common Services team.
- End‑to‑end delivery: working across the full delivery lifecycle - from Kubernetes integration and API endpoint design to final documentation.
- Engineering collaboration: participating in code reviews and pair programming, jointly shaping technical and quality standards.
Requirements
- Experience building applications on Kubernetes - we are looking for an engineer who has worked with K8s and wants to grow into platform engineering.
- Knowledge of Go and Python - ability to write clean, testable code.
- Understanding of REST API design: CRUD, error handling, versioning.
- Kubernetes fundamentals: deployments, services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, RBAC.
- Experience with AI‑assisted development tools: comfortable using Claude Code, Copilot and similar tools as a natural part of daily engineering work.
Nice to have
- Operational experience with databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL.
- Knowledge of Harbor or other registries.
- Experience working with HashiCorp Vault on Kubernetes.
- Exposure to the Kubernetes operator pattern.
- Knowledge of Terraform (even at module‑writing level).
- Experience with containerization and CI/CD: Docker, pipelines.
Why join us:
- Building a cloud platform: You help create a modern ecosystem from scratch, supporting Europe’s space industry, climate research and scientific projects with real impact.
- Autonomous team: You join a newly formed group operating like a startup within a stable, well‑resourced organization.
- CNCF technologies in production: You work with Kubernetes, KNative, Cilium, ArgoCD, Kubeflow and other open‑source projects, with opportunities to contribute.
- Real influence: You have a voice in architectural and product decisions, and your ideas genuinely shape the direction of the platform.
- AI‑native workflow: We use tools like Claude Code daily - not as an experiment, but as an integral part of engineering work.
- Autonomy and stability: We offer flexibility in organizing your work, transparent collaboration principles, and stable employment with competitive compensation.
- Benefits package: Private medical care, Multisport, life insurance.
- Language classes available.
